ConclusionIn patients with CVD indications for statin therapy and generalized OA phenotype (HN+), statin use may be protective against the OA-related subchondral bone damage only in the subgroup of participants with no/minimal baseline BML.Key Points•Statin use may reduce the risk of subchondral bone damage in specific osteoarthritis patients with a generalized phenotype, minimal subchondral bone damage, and cardiovascular statin indications.

CONCLUSION: In patients with migraine, prophylaxis with atorvastatin significantly improved the frequency of headache and QOL over 24 weeks compared with placebo with no effect on the intensity of headache. Statins seem to be a potential promising drug for prophylaxis of migraine headaches.PMID:35037597 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1981105

Digital thermal monitoring (DTM) of microvascular function is a new and simplified technique based on fingertip temperature measurements that has been correlated with the burden of atherosclerosis and its risk factors. Here, we report analyses of DTM data from two large US registries: Registry-I (6,084 cases) and Registry-II (1,021 cases) across 49 US outpatient clinics. DTM tests were perfor...

This study provides scientific rationale towards the therapeutic effect of Eucalyptus camaldulensis aqueous bark extract against induced atherosclerosis and hyperlipidemia in pigeons. Phytochemical components of Eucalyptus bark extract possess a great antioxidant activity that potentially reduced the risk of heart diseases. A total of 42 Pigeons of both sexes were distributed into negative control (fed normal grain diet), hyperlipidemic control (fed HFD 1% animal fat oil and 0.1% cholesterol for 3 months), test groups of variable doses (0.05, 0.1, 0.2 to 0.4 gms/kg BW for 21 days) and the group received atorvastatin daily ...
