Mandy Cohen, North Carolina's top health official, is leaving role
Dr. Mandy Cohen, North Carolina's top health official who became the face of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, is stepping down.
Gov. Roy Cooper announced today that Cohen, the state's Secretary of Health and Human Services, is leaving her position after almost five years in the role.
Cohen began leading DHHS and its 17,000 employees in January 2017. The department, which has an annual budget of $20 billion, is home to the state's Medicaid, public health, mental health, early childhood education…
