A comparison of the effects of two, isometric calf muscle exercises on pain in patients with chronic, mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy

Purpose: Achilles tendinopathy is the clinical syndrome of pain in the Achilles tendon and reduction of function. A particular type of resistance exercise – known as isometric exercise – has previously been shown to reduce patella tendon pain in the immediate and short term. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of two, isometric calf muscle exercises on pain during a functional load test in patients with mid-portion Achil les tendinopathy.
