Paraskevas et al in their Letter to the Editor1 postulate the potential of preoperative statin use to reduce incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing open or endovascular aortic aneurysm repair. We did examine statin therapy in our analyses. As noted, there was relatively homo geneous and high usage of statins (around 70%) across the study groups, and similar frequencies of statin exposure in patients with and without postoperative AKI. We did not observe a significant association of preoperative statin therapy in our univariate or multivariate analysis.
