Impact of bifrontal home-based transcranial direct current stimulation in pain catastrophizing and disability due to pain in fibromyalgia: a randomized, double-blind sham-controlled study
Fibromyalgia is a chronic primary pain condition defined as diffuse pain associated with significant emotional distress related to functional disability.44 It encompasses widespread pain and a persistent state of high reactivity that amplifies nociceptive stimuli29,32,66 Additional symptoms include fatigue, depressive symptoms, cognitive problems, sleep disturbances, and multisensory hypersensitivity.29 Such dysfunctional symptoms might be aggravated in chronic pain, including somatization, helplessness, and catastrophizing.
