In conclusion, CMV infection is common post-CBT in countries with a high rate of CMV seropositivity in the general population and is related to worse outcomes. GVHD severity is associated with the development and recurrence of CMV infection. Thus, efforts need to be made to prevent CMV infection in children post-CBT.
