In thisEuropean Public Health news, we present updates from EUPHA, the EUPHA working group on gender equality, WHO Europe and the upcoming European Public Health Conference. Zeegers and Nagyova reflect on the increase in polarization in the world which has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Petelos et al. present the work EUPHA has been developing on gender equality. Something that should be totally obvious, but still needs specific attention, so that gender equality is accepted and implemented everywhere. Kluge et al. reflect on the future of digital public health, one of the priorities of WHO Europe. Digital health is no longer an option, it is essential. Barnhoorn and Staines highlight the excellent plenary programme of the 2021 European Public Health Conference, where digital health, communication, lessons learned from COVID-19 and climate change are all being addressed.
