'The future of science:' Meet two young St. Jude graduate students doing cutting-edge flu research
Currently, Maria Smith and Ana Vazquez-Pagan — from the Commonwealth of Dominica and Puerto Rico, respectively — are working in the infectious diseases lab of Stacey Schultz-Cherry, Ph.D., where they’re doing innovative research on why certain high-risk populations are more susceptible to the flu.
