Esophageal sphincter augmentation (ESA) has been shown to significantly improve gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms in patients with moderate-severe GERD. The indication for ESA currently excludes patients with moderate-severe GERD with prior bariatric surgery or partial gastrectomy.
