Cancer Patient Assessment in a Preoperative Prehabilitation Program: Self-reported Patient Outcomes and Laboratory Markers vs Physical Markers of Malnutrition and Frailty

Prehabilitation includes optimization of malnourished and physically dependent patients to improve surgical outcomes and decrease morbidity and mortality. Risk factors for malnutrition and frailty have been researched, but information is lacking regarding the relationships between functional strength and laboratory values with scores of frailty and malnutrition. Also lack of standardized prehabilitation guidelines or patient-reported questionnaires. Understanding relationships can lead to development of parameters for patient enrollment in prehabilitation.
