PROSTATE cancer occurs in your prostate, a small walnut-shaped gland. The tricky thing about this type of cancer is that it can develop slowly, showing no signs for many years, the NHS reports. A prevalent vitamin deficiency in the UK can lead to a higher risk.

CONCLUSION: VAAs grow rarely, and rather slow. Cancer and/or chemotherapy do not significantly influence the annual growth rate. Additional control examinations seem unnecessary.PMID:34837270 | DOI:10.1002/ca.23813

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAIMS: There is a lack of early predictive measures of outcome for patients with intermediate-risk prostate cancer (PCa) treated with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). The aim of the present study was to explore 4-year prostate-specific antigen response rate (4yPSARR) as an early predictive measure.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Individual patient data from six institutions for patients with intermediate-risk PCa treated with SBRT between 2006 and 2016 with a 4-year (42-54 months) PSA available were ana...

To detail social knowledge of prostate cancer risk amongst cultural groups. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and black men are at the highest risk. Despite this, black men are the least likely to be diagnosed early with prostate cancer. It is importance to understand why this is so that these men can receive early access to effective treatment and support.

ConclusionsWe found a comparable heterogeneity between patients with up to five lesions and plurimetastic patients, while patients with up to three lesions were less heterogeneous than plurimetastatic patients, featuring different cells phenotypes in the two groups. Our results supported the use of a 3-lesion threshold to define oligometastatic PCa.

CONCLUSION: We found that the interrater agreement for the contouring of the NVB and IPA improved with enhancement of the MRI sequence as well as further training of the raters. The agreement was best in the subset of the inferior half of the NVB, where a good agreement is clinically most relevant for neurovascular-sparing MRgRT for PCa.PMID:34825071 | PMC:PMC8605225 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctro.2021.11.005

Ecancermedicalscience. 2021 Oct 25;15:1310. doi: 10.3332/ecancer.2021.1310. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTHaitian (HA) and African American (AA) men have the highest prostate cancer (PCa) and colorectal cancer (CRC) age-adjusted mortality rates compared with other racial/ethnic groups worldwide. One contributing factor to mortality differences is that a low percentage of age-eligible HA and AA men screen for PCa and CRC, even when healthcare access and insurance are available. Reasons for cancer screening disparities may be differences in knowledge, preferences and willingness in HA and AA men. However, limited information exis...
