A Study of LY3502970 in Japanese Participants With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Condition: Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2 Interventions: Drug: LY3502970; Drug: Placebo Sponsor: Eli Lilly and Company Not yet recruiting
Researchers here mine patient data in order to demonstrate that type 2 diabetes combines with the age-related stiffening of blood vessels to produce greater structural damage in the brain, leading to a more rapid cognitive decline. This correlation between stiffening and damage was not observed in non-diabetic patients. This is an interesting result, as a reasonable view of the consequence of blood vessel stiffening with age is that it will produce increased blood pressure and consequence pressure damage to delicate tissues regardless of other factors. The authors conclude that the most likely explanation is that diabetes ...
Conclusion: This study showed the volumes of multiple hippocampal subfields decreased and they were correlated with FINS, FBG and HOMA-IR in T2DM patients. We hypothesized that decreased hippocampal subfields volumes in T2DM patients was related to insulin resistance and impaired vascular function. In addition, we also found that abnormal hippocampal subfields volumes were related to memory function in T2DM patients, suggesting that reduced volumes in specific hippocampal subfields may be the potential mechanism of memory dysfunction in these patients.
Conclusion: Our results indicate clear association between metformin therapy and lower ICU admission and death rate in patients with type 2 DM and COVID-19, that must be further investigated in larger trials.
The objective of our trial was to evaluate association of COVID-19 outcome with CK levels in high-risk groups. Methods: 229 patients with COVID-19 without signs of myocardial damage or rhabdomyolysis were divided into groups based on gender(117 men,119 women) and presence of type 2 DM(89 with DM,140 without). CK level on admission has been compared in survived and deceased groups. Results: In men CK was significantly higher in the deceased group(345vs133 U/L, p
DiscussionThis systematic review and meta-analysis will provide comprehensive evidence of the prevalence and potential risk factors of depression in Chinese patients with T2DM. We expect to provide evidence for healthcare practitioners and policy makers to pay attention to the mental health of patients with T2DM. Our data will highlight the need and importance of early detection and intervention for depression in patients with T2DM.Systematic review registrationPROSPERO CRD42020182979.
Methylprednisolone (MD) in pulse dosage of 1g once a day for three days was given to 12 patients with severe COVID-19 pneumonitis with refractory hypoxemia to dexamethasone low dosage of 10 days. Decision to give Solu medrol was based on expert multidisciplinary opinion with back-up papersThe most prominent comorbidities in the study group was obesity. 10 out of 12 patients were obese with an average BMI of 37 (BMI minimal 31.3 and max 43).Furthermore hypertension (67%), diabetes mellitus type 2 (33%), OSAS (25%), asthma (1 patient), pre-existing pulmonary embolism (1 patient), colon malignancy (1 patient) and alcohol live...
Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is considered a major health concern around the world and may result in a decreased pulmonary function, respiratory muscle performance and functional status.Aim: To evaluate the chronic responses of combined physical training (CPT) on pulmonary and respiratory muscle function in T2DM with overweight or obesity. Methods: 35 participants with T2DM, body mass index> 24.99 and
Conclusion: HIIT protocols are effective on pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength in T2DM. However, SI-HIIT protocol and LI-HIIT protocol showed similar effects on the respiratory functions, hence both can be used in T2DM.
Background: The impact of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) in terms of mortality, morbidity and quality of life has been well established. Phenotyping OSAS patients has been recognized to be essential in order to make the best therapeutic choice. A particular subset of OSAS patients shows nocturnal respiratory failure (NRF), defined by a nighttime oxygen saturation
In conclusion, the present association study and meta-analysis provides strong evidence that SERPINE1 genetic variant 4G>5G is not implicated in the risk or development of DN in Caucasians. Further studies in other populations remain to further investigate the role of this variant in the course of DN.
