A pilot randomized clinical trial of a teamwork intervention for heart failure care dyads

The prevalence of heart failure (HF) in the United States is increasing with approximately 6.2 million Americans currently living with HF.1 These individuals are recommended to follow a complex self-management regimen and rarely assume self-management alone.2 Moreover, the trajectory of illness is highly variable and most persons with HF remain in the community through the advanced stages of their disease while receiving assistance from their family caregivers.3 The central role of family caregivers in the management of HF has been well documented in the literature.
