BILE criteria: Is it too early, or a stage is set?

We read with keen interest about the BILE criteria for the diagnosis of acute cholangitis (AC) proposed by Buxbaum et  al.1 These criteria seem to be simple and to include basic clinical and laboratory parameters for use in an emergency. The authors suggest that these criteria may avoid unnecessary ERCP.
