Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is a chronic and relapsing skin disease. The medications for treating AD are still limited, most of them are topical corticosteroid creams or antibiotics. The current study attempted to discover potential AD treatments by integrating a gene network and genomic analytic approaches. Herein, the Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNPs) associated with AD were extracted from the GWAS catalog. We identified 70 AD-associated loci, and then 94 AD risk genes were found by extending to proximal SNPs based on r2> 0.8 in Asian populations using HaploReg v4.1. Next, we prioritized the AD risk genes using in sili...

Stem Cell Res Ther. 2021 Oct 11;12(1):539. doi: 10.1186/s13287-021-02583-4.ABSTRACTAllergic diseases are immune-mediated diseases. Allergies share a common immunopathogenesis, with specific differences according to the specific disease. Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) have been applied to people suffering from allergic and many other diseases. In this review, the immunologic roles of MSCs are systemically reviewed according to disease immunopathogenesis from a clinical viewpoint. MSCs seem to be a promising therapeutic modality not only as symptomatic treatments but also as causative and even preventive treatments fo...

We present the case of a 63-year-old patient with history of Brunsting-Perry cicatricial pemphigoid who proved refractory to multiple conventional therapies but was successfully treated with a dupilumab regimen of 300 mg every two weeks. This case suggests the potential role of dupilumab in the management of Brunsting-Perry cicatricial pemphigoid. J Drugs Dermatol. 2021 Oct 1;20(10):1046-1050. doi: 10.36849/JDD.6328.ABSTRACTAtopic Dermatitis (AD) is chronic relapsing inflammatory skin condition that is marked by a high degree of psychosocial and emotional burden in both pediatric and adult populations. In addition to physical symptoms of pruritus and visible skin lesions, AD is associated with decreased quality of life, psychosocial stress, low self-esteem, low work productivity, irritability, decreased physical intimacy, disturbed sleep, depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Since AD is a chronic disease, treatment includes achieving long-term disease control...

Contributors : Kouske Miyauchi ; Masato KuboSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Mus musculusAtopic dermatitis (AD) is the most common inflammatory skin disease. Stat3 mutation is a major cause of hyper IgE syndrome (HIES), which consistently represent AD like eczematous dermatitis. Based on multi-dimensional transcriptome analysis in pre- and post-flares skin, dermatitis phenotype was controlled by sequential two steps of Stat3 deficiency and environmental pathogenic stimuli. The Stat3 deficiency determined the barrier integrity that lowered threshold of inflammation, but this step wa...

Exp Ther Med. 2021 Nov;22(5):1334. doi: 10.3892/etm.2021.10769. Epub 2021 Sep 20.ABSTRACTSpongiosis or a spongiotic reaction pattern is the histological hallmark of intercellular epidermal edema, viewed as clear spaces within the epidermis. Although considered a histopathological term, spongiosis has clinical correlations, with the variable degrees of spongiotic reaction leading to different dermatological findings. This review aimed to highlight the spongiotic reactive patterns found in different autoimmune bullous dermatoses, considering the paucity of publications in this domain. The pathogenesis of spongiosis assumes t...
