Mesenchymal stem/stromal cell therapy in atopic dermatitis and chronic urticaria: immunological and clinical viewpoints
Stem Cell Res Ther. 2021 Oct 11;12(1):539. doi: 10.1186/s13287-021-02583-4.ABSTRACTAllergic diseases are immune-mediated diseases. Allergies share a common immunopathogenesis, with specific differences according to the specific disease. Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) have been applied to people suffering from allergic and many other diseases. In this review, the immunologic roles of MSCs are systemically reviewed according to disease immunopathogenesis from a clinical viewpoint. MSCs seem to be a promising therapeutic modality not only as symptomatic treatments but also as causative and even preventive treatments for allergic diseases, including atopic dermatitis and chronic urticaria.PMID:34635172 | DOI:10.1186/s13287-021-02583-4
To summarize the therapeutic effects and safety of biologics either approved or in clinical development for asthma, COPD, urticaria, nasal polyps, atopic dermatitis, and eosinophilic esophagitis. This review attempts to provide some guidance when choosing between agents.

In this study, we investigate the immunoglobulin E (IgE) response against eosinophil proteins in CSU and AD.METHODS: We recruited patients with severe AD, severe CSU and healthy subjects to explore the presence of IgE autoantibodies and cross-reactivity against EPX, ECP and thyroid peroxidase (TPO). The potential cross-reactive epitopes among the peroxidase family were determined using in silico tools.RESULTS: The frequencies of anti-EPX IgE (28.8%) and anti-ECP IgE (26.6%) were higher in the AD group, and anti-TPO IgE was higher in the CSU group (27.2%). In the CSU group, there was a correlation between the anti-EPX IgE a...
