Reduced Requests for Medical Rehabilitation Because of the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic: A Difference-in-Differences Analysis
People with disabilities and chronic diseases require ease access to health care and rehabilitative services to avoid disease progression and permanent participation restrictions.1 When the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak as a pandemic on March 11, 2020, health care providers immediately responded to the acute and anticipated treatment needs of people with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The concomitant provision of human, spatial, and financial resources for the diagnosis of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections and the treatment of COVID-19 led to limitations in the treatment of other health problems in many countries.
