Risk Prediction in Psychosis: Progress Made and Challenges Ahead

“It is difficult to make predictions, especially about the future,” goes a Danish proverb. Yet in recent decades, a growing number of researchers are attempting to rise to the challenge. For example, in the 25 years between 1995 and 2020, a total of 695,549 scientific publications on prediction modeling were published. In fact, the yearly publication count more than doubled each decade, from 7000 in 1995 to 17,000 in 2005, 42,000 in 2015, and 71,000 in 2020 (Figure 1).
