We report surgical safety from a randomised comparison of CN before or after sunitinib. In-hospital mortality, 30-d readmission rate, and intraoperative and 30-d postoperative AEs according to Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version 4 and Clavien-Dindo (CD) were analysed. Patients were randomised 1:1 to immediate CN followed by sunitinib versus sunitinib followed by deferred CN 24 h after the last dose of sunitinib. None of the tumours in the deferred arm became unresectable, and only two patients had a sunitinib-related delay of CN of>2 wk. AEs related to surgery (all grades) in the immediate a...

AbstractFor the long-term survival of a patient with renal cell carcinoma and a vena cava tumor thrombus, total resection is desired: inoperable patients are sometimes treated with drugs. The effect of the presurgical use of nivolumab, an anti-programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) antibody drug, has been described. Our patient had inoperable renal cancer with an inferior vena cava tumor thrombus. We were able to downsize the tumor to operable size by administrating nivolumab. The patient underwent a nephrectomy and thrombectomy safely. Pathological findings revealed papillary renal cell carcinoma type 2. No viable cells were iden...

Most renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients die from metastasis or recurrence after the spread of cancer to another organ, but the mechanisms underlying the intravascular survival of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are incompletely deciphered. Additionally, although elevated plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and thrombocytosis are strongly correlated and both indicate a poor prognosis for RCC patients, the bridge connecting inflammation and coagulation remains poorly understood. To explore the complicated relationship among inflammation, the coagulation system and CTC survival, we obtained viable CTC counts and clinical i...

Authors: Albisinni S, Pretot D, Al Hajj Obeid W, Aoun F, Quackels T, Peltier A, Roumeguère T Abstract INTRODUCTION: The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) are established markers of systemic inflammation. Moreover, anemia is a known adverse prognostic factor and reduced haemoglobin to platelet ratio (HPR) seems associate to poor outcomes in urothelial cancer. Aim of the current study was to explore the prognostic value of NLR, HPR and PLR in patients harboring localized RCC. Materials and Methods 184 patients undergoing partial and radical nephrectomy for renal ma...

i Francesco Massari The development of new systemic agents has led us into a “golden era” of management of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Certainly, the approval of immune-checkpoint inhibitors and the combination of these with targeted compounds has irreversibly changed clinical scenarios. A deeper knowledge of the molecular mechanisms that correlate with tumor development and progression has made this revolution possible. In this amazing era, novel challenges are awaiting us in the clinical management of metastatic RCC. Of these, the development of reliable criteria which are able to pre...

Objective: Growing evidence suggests pretreatment fibrinogen can serve as a prognostic marker in various malignancies. However, there are contradictory results about the prognostic role of fibrinogen in urological cancers. We conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the association between pretreatment plasma fibrinogen and survival outcomes in urological cancers. Methods: After a systematic search of PubMed and Embase, we included 14 studies in our meta-analysis, and estimated hazard ratios (HRs) for overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) using a fixed-effect model. Results: Our results indicate that pretreat...

In conclusion, our results suggested that expression status of FZD1 had a diagnostic value and prognostic value in ccRCC patients, it also may serve as a potential drug target to relieve sunitinib resistance in renal cancer patients.
