Developmentally regulated GTP-binding protein-2 regulates adipocyte differentiation

This study revealed increases in body weight and adiposity in DRG2 transgenic (Tg) mice overexpressing DRG2. Consistent with these results, DRG2 Tg mice showed increased expression of genes involved in adipogenesis and lipid metabolism in the white adipose tissue. DRG2 was also identified to control adipogenesis by cooperating with peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) in cultured adipocytes. Overall, the findings of the current study suggest that DRG2 plays an active role in regulating adipocyte differentiation, and thus participates in the development of obesity during exposure to a fat-rich diet.PMID:34520979 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbrc.2021.08.081
