Forehead region as an external reference point orthognathic surgery

Maxillary repositioning in orthognathic surgery to a planned position requires vertical, antero-posterior and transverse measurements. The latter two are obtained from the intermediate wafer in bimaxillary osteotomy and the final wafer in single jaw osteotomy. The techniques to ensure reproducibility of the vertical dimensions are varied. Also, retaining the dental midline accuracy is an important task in maxillary osteotomy.
