Role of near-infrared fluorescence in colorectal surgery

World J Gastroenterol. 2021 Aug 21;27(31):5189-5200. doi: 10.3748/wjg.v27.i31.5189.ABSTRACTNear-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) is a technique of augmented reality that, when applied in the operating theatre, allows the colorectal surgeon to visualize and assess bowel vascularization, to identify lymph nodes draining a cancer site and to identify ureters. Herein, we review the literature regarding NIRF in colorectal surgery.PMID:34497444 | PMC:PMC8384744 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v27.i31.5189
