SCL Health — once a power in the KC market — merges with Utah system

A health system once based in the Kansas City area and operating a pair of area hospitals is merging. SCL Health, now based in the Denver area, announced Thursday a deal to merge with Intermountain Healthcare, which is based in Salt Lake City. The merger will create a nonprofit system with 33 hospitals and 385 clinics with headquarters in Salt Lake City.
