Addressing novelty in manuscripts is not so easy

I read with great interest the recent article by the co-editors-in-chief of Surgery entitled ‘‘What’s new? Addressing novelty in manuscripts.”1 As an author and reviewer of Surgery, the article inspires me. Therefore, I would like to express my thoughts on this topic, which are as follows.
