Motor neuron disorders and neuropathies
In this study, we analyzed changes in the thickness of five muscles from rest to contraction in ALS patients versus a control group. 25 ALS patients (mean age: 63.6yr [SD:14.4yr.]; 32% female) and 26 controls (62.5yr [SD:14.8yr]; 31% female) were analyzed. Transverse ultrasound (US) scans were taken at the biceps brachii (BB), forearm flexors (FF), thenar eminence (TE), quadriceps femoris (QF) and tibialis anterior (TA) with a GE-LogiqF8 device with linear transducer (12L-RS 5-13 MHz) with constant image optimization parameters.
