The COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown has had a great psychologic impact on the vulnerable population of adolescents. During this time period, adolescents may experience stressful life events, extended confinement within their homes, grief, intrafamilial violence, lack of normal social interaction with peers, and overuse of electronics, which can contribute to symptoms of depression.1 A systematic review by Cambridge University found nearly 60% of participants met the clinical criteria for mental health disorders during COVID-19.
