BAPM - COVID-19: Frequently asked questions within neonatal services, RCPCH (updated 7th September 2021)

This latest amendment includes nationally agreed updated advice regarding the period of isolation for an asymptomatic mother who tests SARS-CoV-2 positive on admission to maternity services. The recommended period of isolation for an asymptomatic baby who has had contact with a SARS-CoV-2 positive case has also been reduced from 14 to 10 days, and we have incorporated nationally agreed advice on surveillance testing. Potential adverse consequences for babies and their families of universal wearing of facemasks are considered, with suggestions as to how these may safely be mitigated. As hospital visiting is slowly recommenced, we urge colleagues to adhere to national and local guidance.
