Data to inform counseling on parathyroidectomy for secondary hyperparathyroidism of renal origin

The risk of postoperative hungry bone syndrome after parathyroidectomy for secondary hyperparathyroidism of renal origin may alter the course of treatment, including the hospital length of stay and readmission rates. We sought to identify additional patient or hospital factors that might contribute to hungry bone syndrome after parathyroidectomy in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism of renal origin.
