Does C-reactive protein to serum Albumin Ratio correlate with diabEtic nephropathy in patients with Type 2 dIabetes MEllitus? The CARE TIME study

Diabetic Nephropathy (DN) is a complication of Diabetes Mellitus with worst outcomes, and with significant morbidity and mortality. Nearly one of every three diabetic subjects develop DN during the course of their disease [1]. It is associated with prominent, chronic, and low-grade inflammation. Increased levels of glucose may trigger inflammation and oxidative stress, thus, causing nephropathy [2]. Indeed, alleviation of the inflammation decreases oxidative stress and cellular damage in DN [3].
