34-Year-Old Woman With Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Chronic Diarrhea

A 34-year-old woman with a history of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) treated with antiretroviral therapy (ART) for 1 year, chronic hepatitis B, latent tuberculosis, and treated Helicobacter pylori infection was transferred to our institution for the evaluation of refractory abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. She experienced about 10 to 12 daily episodes of Bristol type 7 stool associated with abdominal bloating and cramping for a year with intermittent episodes requiring hospital admission for failure to thrive.
