I'm an M2 and I've heard from some anesthesia pain mgmt friends that they do micro discectomies and some other simple spine procedures like spinal cord stimulators. Are these the same type of procedures that neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons perform?
Abstract: I.V. catheter placement is one of the most common causes of procedural pain in children. Interventions to address this pain are readily available but inconsistently used in practice. The focus of this article is to identify and encourage best practice for pain mitigation in peripheral I.V. catheter placement in children.
Discussion Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder with an intense fear of being overweight (i.e. distorted body image), and self-starvation and excessive weight loss. It is more common in women (1.2%) than men (0.2%) but can be seen in both genders. Risk factors include high-intelligence, perfectionism/inflexibility, anxiety, activities where thinner body types are expected (e.g. dancer, diver, gymnast, long-distance runner, volleyball player, etc.) Other eating disorders include bulimia nervosa (i.e. cycles of binge eating and then purging), binge eating disorder (i.e. purging), orthorexia (i.e. obsessions with healthful ...
AbstractLittle is known about the measurement properties of numeric rating scales (NRS) for pain in AD. We evaluated a novel NRS for skin-pain and existing NRS for average overall-pain in adults with AD. Self-administered questionnaires and skin-examination were performed in 463 AD patients (age 18 –97 years) in a dermatology practice setting. Numeric rating scales skin-pain and average overall-pain had moderate correlations with each other, and multiple clinician-reported and patient-reported AD severity outcomes (Spearman correlations,P
ConclusionsResults suggest that, despite not targeting sleep directly, the mind –body activity program holds promise for sustainably improving sleep quality among patients with chronic pain. Targeting mindfulness and relaxation may facilitate these improvements.

Not really my realm, but you all watching this? What are your impressions? I very much remember the pervasiveness of drug reps in children's hospitals in the early 2000s (I still have my green Ceftriaxone pen) and very much remember MS Contin, but again, I don't do adult so my experience and recall is limited...
HEADACHES are triggered by lifestyle or environmental factors but there are other surprising factors causing the pain.
Photo credit Esther Wiegardt Dear Carol: I’m a new reader so maybe you’ve written about this topic, but I’ll ask anyway. My mom’s 78 and my dad’s 82. They seem to be doing great. For example, they recently updated their legal documents, and they’re open with me about their end-of-life wishes. They tell me that if one of them dies, I should help the survivor manage their finances. This is all good and I’m grateful, but I read so many articles about adult children missing red flags about parental health that I constantly wonder if I should already be doing more. How do I know? - DL C...
Recently we reported on oxidized derivatives of linoleic acid (LA) that are potential endogenous mediators of chronic pain and itch . Linoleic acid, which is one of the most abundant fatty acids in the skin is designated an “essential fatty acid” since a small amount (0.5% of energy) must be obtained in the diet to form a functional epidermal water barrier and to prevent clinical manifestations of “essential fatty acid deficiency” .
