Measurement properties of the ICECAP-A capability well-being instrument among dermatological patients

ConclusionsThis is the first study to validate a capability well-being measure in patients with dermatological conditions. The ICECAP-A was found to be a valid tool to assess capability well-being in dermatological patients. Future work is recommended to test measurement properties of ICECAP-A in chronic inflammatory skin conditions.

We describe a patient with psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and uveitis who was treated with adalimum ab and after 4 months of the treatment developed clinical and neuroradiological signs of demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. She experienced no signs and symptoms of neurological disease prior to adalimumab administration. After a detailed neurological work-up she was diagnosed wit h relapsing–remitting type of multiple sclerosis and treated with oral and pulse glucocorticoids and later with dimethyl fumarate. Adalimumab was discontinued. The question remains was the demyelination induced by the T...

Indeed, in psoriatic patients, risk of infections may be due to psoriasis itself, immunomodulatory therapy and comorbidities that may increase this risk and patient hospitalization.AREAS COVERED: Given the greater understanding of psoriasis pathogenesis and the increasing number of treatment options, it is particularly important to customize therapy according to each, single patient; psoriasis...

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOptical coherence tomography (OCT) has been able to establish itself in recent years not only in academic-scientific, but also in everyday dermatological practice. Its focus lies on epithelial tumors of the skin, which can be diagnosed intuitively and within a few seconds. Thus, basal cell carcinomas, actinic keratoses, and different stages of field cancerization can be diagnosed and monitored for response to therapy or possible recurrence. This often helps to avoid invasive sample extraction. Recently, the field of OCT and its latest adv...

It is currently prescribed for the treatment of psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, which are immune-mediated diseases that show significant co-heritability with IBD. Although this treatment appears to be well tolerated by patients, during the last years, several cases of new- onset IBD after secukinumab have been reported.PMID:34696593 | DOI:10.17235/reed.2021.8397/2021

Although the role of genetic variant HLA-G (rs1063320) in susceptibility to human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has been widely considered, it is still a matter of discussion. In order to shed light on the issue, we, therefore, conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the common impact of the HLA-G (rs1063320) variant on susceptibility to HPV infection. Subsequently, the distribution of genotypes, genotyping techniques and ethnicity groups was collected, and ...

This case study documents a 26-year-old woman with bilateral total dystrophic onychomycosis of at least 5 years' duration. She had previously failed to respond to treatment with ciclopirox nail lacquer 8% and despite hiding her condition with nail polish, was suffering from embarrassment, distress and low self-esteem. At initial consult, one hundred percent of both great toenails were affected. After discussion of all treatment o...
