Development of machine learning model to detect fibrotic non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has a direct medical cost of> $ 100 billion annually and is projected to be the leading cause of liver transplantation in the United States of America (USA) [1]. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a risk factor for liver fibrosis which portends poor prognosis however not all NASH patients progress to fibrosis. Fibrotic-NA SH represents NASH at high risk of progression to cirrhosis and is an important indication for enrollment in clinical trials [2].
