Angiotensin II receptor antagonist (Olmesartan) associated gastro-entero-colopathy. The multiform expressions of damage due to this class of drugs

The angiotensin II receptor antagonists, also known as angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), are a family of drugs that inhibit the renin-angiotensin system by binding to and inhibiting the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1). The ARBs comprise eight agents with similar activity but different pharmacokinetics [1]. In 1995 Losartan was the first ARB approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of hypertension followed by Valsartan (1996), Irbesartan (1997), Eprosartan (1997), Candesartan (1998), Telmisartan (1998), Olmesartan (2002) and Azilsartan (2011).
