The Effects of Bariatric Surgery on Cardiovascular Diseases

We read with interest the article “Bariatric surgery is associated with reduced admission for aortic dissection: a nationwide case-control analysis” by Okida et al. [1] published online in the Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases. The authors evaluated the association of bariatric surgery with admissions due to aortic dissec tion. They have perfomed a cross-sectional analysis using the National Inpatient Sample database from 2010 to 2015. They have reported that decreasing the risk factors for a specific condition like aortic dissection might have reduced the incidence of the disease theoretically.
