CMS: Medicare Program: Prospective Payment System and Consolidated Billing for Skilled Nursing Facilities; Updates to the Quality Reporting Program and Value-Based Purchasing Program for Federal Fiscal Year 2022; and Technical Correction to Long-Term Care Facilities Physical Environment Requirements

Notice of final rule Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) updating the prospective payment system (PPS) for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) for fiscal year 2022. Among other things, this rule rebases and revises the SNF market basket, updates the diagnosis code mappings used under the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM), and finalizes a technical correction to the physical environment requirements that Long-Term Care facilities must meet to participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. This rule also includes updates the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP). Includes rural considerations throughout. This rule is effective October 1, 2021.
