Management of Pediatric Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: A Role for RT Dose De-escalation
Standard treatment for pediatric and adolescent and young adult nasopharyngeal carcinoma1 is induction chemotherapy and response-based, concurrent, dose de-escalated chemoradiation, an approach evaluated in prospective US and German studies.2,3 The Children ’s Oncology Group (COG-ARAR0331) single-arm phase 2 study used 3 cycles of induction cisplatin-5FU followed by response-based chemoradiation therapy with cisplatin. Three-quarters of the patients had a complete response or partial response and received 45 Gy with a boost to 61.2 Gy.
