Children of obese mothers at risk of developing schizophrenia and drug addiction - study

MORE than half of all UK adults are classed as being overweight or obese - that's over 35 million people. In past years, this has become more common among pregnant women, with a prevalence of up to 25 percent in Europe. A study has now found that maternal weight during the pregnancy can have long-term repercussions on the health of the unborn baby, with extreme cases resulting in drug addiction and schizophrenia.
