A substance from Saussurea controversa will help bone tissue regeneration

(Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University) Scientists from the IKBFU with colleagues obtained calcium chelidonate via a semisynthesis. This substance accelerates the transformation of stem cells into osteoblasts - its use is promising as a treatment for bone diseases. A plant, Saussurea controversa, used in medicine since ancient times, served as a source for synthesis.
