Pro: 24/7 In-House Intensivist Coverage in CTICU

Perspective guides much of our daily lives, perhaps especially how we view our professional careers. The notable American writer, Edmund Wilson, once said, “No two persons have ever read the same book”. This phrase can be applied to numerous aspects of life, including work in a cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU). Restated for intensivists, it could be written, “No two intensivists working in a CTICU will feel the same way about their jobs ”. This is due to the multitude of encounters with high acuity or deteriorating patients, along with the incessant environment of a critical care unit.
