Reply to: “Non-selective beta blockers and mortality in decompensated cirrhosis: Is cirrhotic cardiomyopathy the missing link?”

We thank Izzy and colleagues for the interest in our study and greatly appreciate their interesting suggestions. We agree with them on the relevance of investigating cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM) using the new echocardiographic criteria,1 to ascertain whether patients with CCM based on these criteria have greater risk of detrimental effects from beta-blockade. However, we do not think that performing such an assessment on our data may be of value, given the high risk of bias.
