Frailty in Ethnic Minority Women

In contemporary Australia, the life expectancy of women is approximately four years longer than that of men [1]. This sex-longevity gap is not unexpected. European historical records indicate that women have lived longer than men since at least the 18th century [2] and modern datasets demonstrate this female-male mortality gap globally [3]. This survival advantage, however, has not been accompanied by health advantages. Data indicate that women are burdened by chronic disease and disability to a greater extent than their male contemporaries [4].
