Is diabetes mellitus a wrongdoer to COVID-19 severity?

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is an enveloped, single stranded, positive sense RNA bearing novel coronavirus of genus Batacoronavirus, family Conornaviridae which also involves other two coronaviruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV). An outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) which was triggered by SARS-CoV appeared from mammals such as bat and palm civet [1,2] in southern China in 2002-2003 and killed approximately 800 people.
