Toward radiotheranostics in cancer stem cells: a promising initial step for tumour eradication

ConclusionThere is an essential need to consider the combination of conventional cancer treatment methods and specific CSCs therapies to complete eradication of heterogeneous tumour mass. Nuclear molecular imaging with an incorporated theranostic approach is a proposed platform that combines diagnostics and therapy as well as facilitates individual patient treatment. Currently, there are only early steps, but these steps display promising results of CSC-targeting using the theranostics approach. Further high-throughput research should be directed towards the greater development of the theranostics approach in CSCs to improve existing therapies and generate new clinically individualised cancer treatments.
