This article reviews the abnormal expression of miR-802 in a variety of tumors, expounds the mechanism by which miR-802 affects tumor progression by regulating different target genes, and elaborates the network of miR-802-related ceRNAs. We also summarized the limitations of miR-802 research and looked forward to the potential application of miR-802 in the diagnosis and prognosis of tumors.PMID:34558723 | DOI:10.1002/jcla.23989

ladkich Ingrid Herr Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have attracted attention in cancer therapy and might support the treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Silver is in clinical use in wound dressings, catheters, stents and implants. However, the side effects of systemic AgNP treatment due to silver accumulation limit its therapeutic application. We evaluated whether the antioxidant and natural agent α-lipoic acid might prevent these side effects. We synthesized AgNPs using an Ionic-Pulser® Pro silver generator and determined the concentration by inductively coupled plasma–optical emission...

out Henry Fechner The coxsackievirus B3 strain PD-0 has been proposed as a new oncolytic virus for the treatment of colorectal carcinoma. Here, we generated a cDNA clone of PD-0 and analyzed the virus PD-H, newly generated from this cDNA, in xenografted and syngenic models of colorectal cancer. Replication and cytotoxic assays revealed that PD-H replicated and lysed colorectal carcinoma cell lines in vitro as well as PD-0. Intratumoral injection of PD-H into subcutaneous DLD-1 tumors in nude mice resulted in strong inhibition of tumor growth and significantly prolonged the survival of the animals, but virus-induced s...

Conclusions OpenPET-guided surgery with 64Cu-labeled-cetuximab enabled intraoperative identification and resection of intrapancreatic small residual tumors. This technology could be useful to prevent tumor residuals during surgery and improve pancreatic cancer survival.

CONCLUSIONS: The insulin and IGF signal transduction pathway is dominant in gastric adenocarcinoma. Gastric adenocarcinoma cell survival depends upon insulin receptor. That insulin has direct cancer-promoting effects on tumour cells has implications for clinical management of obese and diabetic cancer patients.PMID:34554347 | DOI:10.1007/s10120-021-01236-y

Brief Bioinform. 2021 Sep 22:bbab388. doi: 10.1093/bib/bbab388. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFerroptosis is a form of regulated cell death initiated by oxidative perturbations that can be blocked by iron chelators and lipophilic antioxidants, and ferroptosis may be the silver bullet treatment for multiple cancers, including immunotherapy- and chemotherapy-insensitive cancers such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Numerous studies have noted that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulate the biological behaviour of cancer cells by binding to DNA, RNA and protein. However, few studies have reported the role of lncRN...
