Risk stratification in patients with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy

Meaningful risk stratification starts with a correct diagnosis. Awareness of frequent left ventricular (LV) involvement in arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) promoted the use of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) as a more appropriate name for this disease. However, ARVC and ACM are not the same. ACM is broader and includes predominantly RV disease or classic ARVC, biventricular disease, and predominant LV disease (ALVC). ACM diagnosis is facilitated by the 2010 international consensus-based revised task force criteria (2010 TFC) [1].
