Late-onset Acute and Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease in Children: Clinical features and Response to Therapy

Long-term morbidity and mortality after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) can result from late acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) and chronic GVHD (cGVHD). Late aGVHD is defined as aGVHD present or developing after day 100 without chronic GVHD and is classified into de novo, persistent, and recurrent late aGVHD according to its onset1,2. Although cGVHD presents at any time after an allogeneic HCT with variable systemic symptoms, the majority of the cases occur after day 100 3.
