Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAdjuvant endocrine therapy (ET) is the cornerstone of treatment for hormone-receptor positive breast cancer. Recently, ET is increasingly combined with "cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6'' (CDK4/6) inhibitors. Given the importance of estrogens in neural processes and the role of cyclin D in hippocampal cell proliferation, it is plausible that these therapies affect cognition, but studies on these potential cognitive effects are sparse. In this review, we summarize existing knowledge on the cognitive eff...

Ther Umsch. 2021;78(8):441-446. doi: 10.1024/0040-5930/a001295.ABSTRACTEndometriosis and Menopause Abstract. Endometriosis is supposed to affect only women in their reproductive years, but endometriotic lesions can reactivate in menopause and cause significant complaints in these patients. Altered needs and co-morbidities of the women request a different approach in therapy than in the younger ages. Reduction in chronic pain on the one hand and alleviation of climacteric symptoms, like hot-flushes and vaginal dryness, on the other hand, are main concerns to the physician in charge. Consequently, keeping the balance between...

Conclusions: The risk of severe CTS, common in perimenopausal women, is increased after bilateral oophorectomy. The association may be causal or due to confounding. Therefore, the precise biological mechanisms explaining the association and the absence of a mitigating effect of estrogen therapy should be further investigated.

(The North American Menopause Society (NAMS)) Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), which causes tingling and numbness in the hand, more commonly affects women than men and tends to peak around the age of menopause. A new study suggests the risk of severe CTS increases in women who underwent bilateral oophorectomy before menopause, and estrogen therapy didn't provide a protective effect. Study results are published online today in Menopause, the journal of The North American Menopause Society (NAMS).

‘Throng’ n. – A multitude of persons or of living beings pressing or pressed into a close body or assemblage; a crowd. This section of my website is called The Thursday Throng in honour of the throng that waits eagerly at the bookshop door when a new author book signing or speaking. It takes the form of a ‘Meet the Author’ online event with some information about our author’s latest book and an interview. Some authors also offered giveaways of their books and others have reviews I’ve written posted on Amazon (UK and US) and Goodreads. Past Thursday Throng Author Interviews 2018 ...

At a follow up visit re this at my GP surgery I asked if I would be able to have the steroid injection in my ...
