Autism screening: The perfect vs the good

There is no question that we, with our current screening tools are imperfect at identifying many children with the heterogeneous Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (Pediatrics 2020;145:e20193447. doi:10.1542/peds.2019-3447). Until we have more accurate and culturally appropriate methods, pediatricians and other providers of care to children must continue to rely on a variety of broadband developmental screening and autism-specific instruments, and do so at any early age when interventions can have the greatest impact.
