Call For Applications Coming!

      Welcome to the new, yet familiar, NNLM Regional Medical Library. Formerly known as GMR, the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences at the University of Iowa serves as Region 6 under its second five-year cooperative agreement with the National Library of Medicine. Also new, but recognizable, is Darlene Kaskie, who has transitioned from NNLM All of Us to the Region 6 Community Engagement Coordinator. In this role, she looks forward to broadening access, use, and understanding of information and digital literacy with diverse populations for health equity in the seven states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. One way to fulfill this scope of work is through funding. In early June, Region 6 will announce a Call For Applications of five awards. Priority will be given to submissions from community- or faith- based organizations located in Medically Underserved Areas or applicants who are collaborating with organizations that have intimate knowledge of the health information needs of their community and how best to deliver meaningful programming. It has been updated with recent census data, county health rankings, and community stories and maps of Medically Underserved Areas and Populations to inform proposal goals and outcomes.
